Ok ladies and gentleman let’s talk dirty….How many showers do you take a day? Better yet how long do you take in the shower?  At BathArt Refinishing we are always looking for way to save you MONEY! Lets look at a few water and money saving tips together... Let's Talk Dirty!!!!

Everyone deserves a long, hot shower or a bubble bath once in a while. It’s relaxing and helps undo the stress from the day. Like all good things, long showers need to be taken in moderation. The effect that a shower has on water conservation is staggering. An average high flow shower head uses between 7 and 10 gallons of water per minute. Even the low flow equivalents use 5-7 gallons. Imagine a 10 minute shower. On the high end, you’re using over 100 gallons of water! That’s enough to keep a dozen fish happily swimming along in a very large tank.

Now take this idea and imagine a 20 minutes shower, or a 30 minute shower. At 30 minutes, you’re using up 300 gallons of water. That’s much will fill a medium sized hot tub!

We recommend that you take no more than a 5 minute shower on at least 5 days out of the week. This will help reduce your water bill based on consumption alone! When you consider the cost to heat that water, run it into the sewer and then treat it, you can see how that long shower adds up to heavy costs if done too frequently.

In a house of four people, each taking 5 minute showers daily, that’s less than 6000 gallons/month. Now imagine if all of those people took 20 mine showers. We’ve have enough to fill an Olympic size swimming pool!

Do your part. Conserve water by taking shorter showers when possible. If you sneak in a long hot shower once in a while, that’s alright too. Everything in moderation, after all!
